Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Lubbock, TexasWe are grateful that God has brought you to our website today and we invite you to join us in worship this Sunday. Rediscover the Sabbath and hear anew Jesus’ gracious words.

Gloria Dei” or “Glory to God”, the name this congregation chose for itself, is not only a name but a way of life. Please join us for worship and all activities at Gloria Dei.

We bring glory to God through our prayer, praise and thanksgiving.

We bring glory to God when we encourage one another and when we serve as living examples of love to one another.

We bring glory to God when we spread the Good News of the Kingdom of God and follow Jesus' command to make disciples of all nations.

Please join us for worship and all activities at Gloria Dei.

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers".

(Acts 2:42)

  • Dr. Travis Casler is leading a study of the Epistles of Peter.  All are welcome to join the discussion on Sunday Mornings at 9 am.  Next Sunday, we will start a study of 1st John.
  • If you did not pick up your lilies after worship on Sunday, they are in the church office.  Please feel free to come by during office hours.
  • Please tuck Pastor Jeff and the Thomsons into your prayers this week as they attend the Synod convention.
  • Remember children in crisis in our community.  We are gathering stuffed animals for The Child Advocacy Center.  Bring the animals to the front pews so they can absorb the prayers and scripture. Animals will be blessed on May 4th, Rachel's Day.  This will also be Blue Sunday, a day of remembrance for children who are abused or neglected, especially the 500 who received services from the Child Advocacy Center last year. Please wear something blue.
  • Pastor Jeff's Thursday evening class will take a break until May 1st, when we will begin a study of Gothic cathedrals, which reflect the societal and spirtual practices of the day.
  • Spring Fling will be held on June 4 at the Frasier Pavillion at Tech.  This is the only major fundraiser for our local Lutheran charities, such as Neighborhood House, Health for Friends, Wedgewood South and Lutheran Foster Care.  Please call the church office for more information.

On May 1, Pastor Jeff will begin a study titled “The Cathedrals”. Cathedrals reflect the spiritual and societal culture of the time period. This 24 week course by Dr. William Cook, State University of New York at Genesco, uses 3-d modeling and imagery to reveal the structure, secrets, and art of each of the great Gothic cathedrals. Class meets at 7 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
